Inspecting the Home

Your home purchase will probably be the single largest investment of your life.  It makes good sense to have any home inspected before you agree to buy.  You can obtain the services of a home inspector, or you can make the inspection yourself.  In either case you will find that the Building Research Council Notes on Inspecting the Home provide valuable information. This eight-page document provides a checklist that you can use in doing your own inspection or in discussing the results of an inspection done by a professional.
Sample Inspection Information
Stair-step cracks in the brick walls of a house may indicate major or minor structural problems
