Continuing Education for Architecture Registration Exam Preparation Energy Basics for Small Business 3 HSW
LUs TBA Energy plays a vital role in business. We rely on
it for such things as lighting, heating, cooling, computing, communicating,
and a multitude of manufacturing processes; energy, with labor, is what gets
the job done for American small businesses. This course provides an
introduction to energy basics for small business owners, operators, and
anyone else who would like to understand energy from the ground up. The
course takes a very simplified approach to the study of energy. The objective of this course is to enable small
business owners to understand energy terminology, to do simple calculations
of energy quantities, to complete a simple energy audit for their business,
and to understand the basics of technologies available for saving energy. Instructor: Ben J. Sliwinski is a research
specialist with the Building Research Council at the University of Illinois
at Urbana-Champaign. He currently is providing engineering support to the
Smart Energy Design Assistance Center. He has provided consulting services to
utilities, government agencies, and private research organizations in the
areas of building energy efficiency, energy system modeling, and energy data
analysis. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of
Science degree in General Engineering and a Master of Science degree in
Nuclear Engineering. |
